A SENSE OF TREPIDATION
In this body of work I have created the effect of layered images by using a long exposure. Today it is challenging to make many digitally shot images believable because of the various editing software now available. I wanted to take a step back from the aid of technology and create similarly visual images using just black and white film and the darkroom.
I wanted to use locations that would show a sense of the subject being lost or misplaced, stranded in an unfamiliar environment. The moments of movement captured in the photographs helps to place my subjects in a surreal situation. A puff of breath in the cold air or the blurred tips of trees dancing in the wind isolate the subject, from the minutes that are passing all around them. They are captured in a snippet of time.
All images shot on Kentmere 100 black and white film, using a Nikon Fe, 35mm SLR.
